A detailed description of Mississinewa Township can be found in George
Dallas Albert's "History of Westmoreland County" on page 417. It existed
only from 1847 to 1850 and contained the land along Big Sewickley Creek
between Myer's Run and the Youghiogheny River in South Huntingdon Twp.
Apperently some kind of political wheeling&dealing with the state
legislature.
Mississinewa is a river in eastern Indiana were a battle was fought with
Indians during the War of 1812 by a Troop of Volunteer Cavalary from
Westmoreland County under the command of Captain Joseph Markle.
