    Note: A.S. Walter was Thomas Gallatin's contemporary, neighbor, fellow farmer and, ultimately, his son-in-law. After Abraham's wife, Rebecca, died Abraham married Thomas' daughter, Pearl Gallatin. Abraham was 7 years younger than his new father-in-law and 20 years older than his new wife.
